Seven of the most successful Romanian films, made by directors such as Radu Jude, Corneliu Porumboiu, Constantin Popescu, Florin Şerban, Daniel Sandu, Ana Lungu and Hadrian Marcu and selected at major international festivals, will be seen at the Romanian Film Days (RFD) in Chisinau.
The fourth edition of the most important event in the Republic of Moldova dedicated to Romanian Cinema will take place from October 11th to October 14th at the Odeon Cinema Theatre in the center of the capital and access to the screenings will be free. The festival continues the tradition of bringing in front of the cinephiles from Chisinau the most appreciated Romanian films.

The festival will be opened with „One Step Behind the Seraphim” (2017), the highly anticipated debut film of director Daniel Sandu, who will be present at the screening for a discussion with the audience. The feature film was in the competition of the Sofia International Film Festival and has won eight Gopo Awards this year, including for Best Film and Best Director.

The audience of the Republic of Moldova will be able to see, shortly after the premiere in Romania, Radu Jude‘s newest film, „I Do Not Care If We Go Down in History as Barbarians” (2018). The film won this year’s Crystal Globe at the prestigious Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, and recently was chosen by Romania for a nomination in the Foreign Film category at the Oscars.

The programme also includes the disturbing ”Pororoca” (2017), Constantin Popescu‘s third feature film, which was selected last year in the official competition of the San Sebastian Festival, where actor Bogdan Dumitrache won the Acting Award.

Not to be missed is the newest film, still unreleased in Romania, of director Florin Şerban, „Love 1. Dog” (2018), coming directly from the competition of Sarajevo International Film Festival. The Bessarabian actor Valeriu Andriuţă plays the main role and will be present in Chisinau for Q&A at the closing gala.

Also from the Sarajevo competition comes the new film directed by Ana Lungu, „One and a Half Prince” (2018), newly launched in the Romanian cinemas. The second debut of this year’s programme is „A Decent Man” (2017) by Hadrian Marcu. The film was selected in the New Directors section of the San Sebastian International Film Festival and the Namur Festival. In Chisinau, it will have its third world screening, before the Bucharest premiere.

The programme also includes the documentary „Infinite Football” (2018), the newest film of one of the most important authors of the Romanian New Wave Cinema – Corneliu Porumboiu. The film premiered at the beginning of the year, at the prestigious Berlin Film Festival in the Forum section.
