THE GIFT film (Moldova/Romania, 2015) has been selected in the official competition of FUICLA – International Cine-Letter Film Festival 2018, dedicated to short films inspired by literary works.
THE GIFT – is a film produced by ALTERNATIVE CINEMA (Moldova) and co-produced by ROVA FILM (Romania), directed by Dumitru Grosei. The script was written by Marian Crișan and Dumitru Grosei, being a free adaptation of Nicolae Labiș’ famous poem “The Death of the Deer”. The festival is in its second edition and will take place from 10 to 12 May in Agadir (Morocco), organized by Ibn Zohr University, Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences. The director Dumitru Grosei will be present at this special cinematic event.

Synopsis:
A kid gets a pair of binoculars as a Christmas gift, but what he wants more is to go hunting with his father.

Director’s Statement:
Every child has, at one moment, a coming of age experience. This short film observes one of these moments. Victor, the kid in the film THE GIFT, goes hunting with his father for the first time. He will confront the brutal and grotesque reality of this ritual in a sunny winter day.
